Due to an unexpectedly rough pregnancy filled with EXTREME nausea,a month of doctor ordered bed rest due to preterm labor, and an extended recovery time, I ended up gaining a lot of weight. It didn't help that I fell into a pretty intense depression for a while after having my beautiful little Wrylenn.
Postpartum blues is a real thing people. It's easy to fall into a post pregnancy slump. I know I'm not the first to encounter this trial, and I sure won't be the last. Well 199.8 lbs was my wake up call (let's be honest I should really just say 200 lbs, but no one really wants to admit when they've gotten things that far out of hand). It was my..."do I just give in and let it happen or do I fight to get my body back?".
Ok so we all know I was going to get back to working out eventually, I just took a while to get things on track.
Well here I am, 20 lbs into my weight loss journey, hitting the gym 4-6 times a week, and doing my workouts at home when I don't get a chance to get out of the house for my workout, and things are going swell......
Until it's leg day... and some IDIOT is standing in the squat rack curling a 45 pound bar with 10 lbs on either side... Yeah, I know I already updated facebook about my little pet peeve here. But it got me thinking about gym etiquette and other things people do at the gym that drive me nuts.
So here's a fun little list for y'all, feel free to pitch in with your personal gym peeves:
- People who sit at a machine on their phone for longer than a rest interval should last.
- People who crowd an area and just stand around talking.
- Huge dudes who drop weights that aren't bumper weights.
- Weight belts on anyone who isn't performing a 1 RM
- When guys try to give me advice.... especially when their advice goes against the science, facts, and proper form.
- When someone sweats all over a machine and doesn't clean it.
- People who don't wear deodorant to the gym. I get it, you're sweaty and you're not going to smell like flowers, but come on people!
What are you're pet peeves when working out at the gym?
